The Project

What is 1,200 Mondays?

1,200 Mondays is a long-term investing experiment. The idea is simple: invest £100 every Monday, track the results and see how much we can grow the portfolio over time.

We're documenting the entire journey, including the wins, the losses and everything we learn along the way.

What's the goal?

To build an investment portfolio worth £1 million by 2049.

It's an ambitious target, not a guaranteed outcome. We'll track our actual progress every week and let the numbers tell the story.

How can £120,000 turn into £1 million?

Through the potential power of compound growth.

When investments increase in value, those gains remain invested and can generate further gains over time. The longer the money stays invested, the greater the potential compounding effect.

However, returns are never guaranteed, and reaching £1 million depends on actual investment performance.

Why is it called 1,200 Mondays?

Because the project is built around 1,200 weekly investment contributions. Every Monday is another opportunity to invest, stay consistent and make progress towards the goal.

1,200 Mondays is approximately 23 years.

When did the project start?

The first investment was made on Monday, 2 March 2026. Every subsequent week adds another chapter to the journey.

Can we really reach £1 million by 2049?

It's possible, but far from certain.

The outcome will depend on investment returns, market conditions, the timing of contributions and other factors. The £1 million figure is our target, not a forecast we can guarantee.

The Investing

How much are we investing?

The plan is to invest £100 every Monday. Across 1,200 contributions, that adds up to £120,000 of our own money.

The remaining growth needed to reach £1 million would have to come from investment returns.

What return are we aiming for?

Our planning model has used an illustrative annual return assumption of around 15%.

That's an ambitious assumption, not a promise or a reliable prediction. Actual returns will fluctuate, and the final portfolio could be worth significantly more or less than the target.

What are we investing in?

The portfolio contains a selection of individual companies across technology, consumer brands, financial services, electric vehicles and other industries, alongside broader market exposure through an ETF.

We track each holding separately so everyone can see what's performing well, what's struggling and how the portfolio evolves.

Why invest in individual stocks?

Individual stocks allow us to follow specific businesses, understand their performance and explore the opportunities and risks involved in investing in them.

They can also be volatile. The project documents the results honestly rather than assuming every company will be successful.

Do we invest in the same stocks every week?

The project follows a regular £100 weekly contribution plan, while the portfolio's holdings and allocations may vary. The amount invested in each company is tracked separately so we can calculate its actual performance accurately.

How do we calculate our returns?

We compare the current value of the portfolio with the total amount invested.

For individual holdings, we compare their current market value with the amount originally invested in each stock. This lets us calculate the gain or loss in pounds and as a percentage.

We use the recorded pound values to calculate performance rather than relying on potentially inaccurate percentages displayed by the investing app.

What's the difference between money invested and portfolio value?

Money invested is the total amount we've contributed.

Portfolio value is what those investments are worth today.

If we've invested £3,000 and the portfolio is worth £3,300, the portfolio has a £300 gain, equivalent to a 10% return on contributions, before any additional adjustments.

What happens if the stock market crashes?

We document it.

The portfolio can fall in value, sometimes significantly. We'll examine what happened, review the underlying investments and continue reporting the results honestly.

A falling share price doesn't automatically make a stock a bargain, and the project doesn't guarantee that losses will recover.

Do we invest even when the market is falling?

The plan is to maintain the regular contribution habit rather than try to predict every market movement. Individual investment decisions still require research and judgement.

Regular investing can mean buying shares at different prices over time, but it does not eliminate risk or guarantee a profit.

What happens if the portfolio loses money?

We report the loss and explain what it means for the project.

The goal is to document the real experience of investing over the long term, not to show a perfect upward line. Losses, mistakes and difficult decisions are part of that story.

Following Along

How often is the portfolio updated?

The project is built around weekly updates. Each update records the latest portfolio value, the amount invested, the gains or losses and the performance of individual holdings.

This creates a historical record of the journey from the first contribution onwards.

Can I see the previous weeks?

Yes. The website is intended to provide a historical record so you can follow the portfolio's progress, compare different weeks and see how the results change over time.

Can I copy the portfolio and invest in the same stocks?

You can use the publicly documented holdings as a starting point for your own research, but you shouldn't assume the same investments are suitable for you.

Your financial circumstances, goals, risk tolerance and investment timeframe may be different. The project is an experiment, not a personalised investment recommendation.

Is this financial advice?

No. 1,200 Mondays documents a personal investing experiment for educational and informational purposes. It isn't personalised financial advice, and the investments discussed may not be appropriate for everyone.

Always do your own research and consider the risks before investing.

Why follow 1,200 Mondays?

Because building wealth is a long-term process, and it's easier to understand when you can see it happening in real time.

Follow the weekly contributions, watch the portfolio evolve, learn about the businesses behind the stocks and see whether consistency and compounding can deliver the results we're aiming for.

Membership

What do I get when I pay?

You get access to the holding names on members.1200m.club. That unlocks the names on the home list of best and worst, on the ledger cards and their detail, and on the in-the-green and in-the-red week pages.

The membership fee is for that access. It is not invested, and you do not receive shares in the portfolio.

How does pricing work?

Membership is £100 for the calendar year. Join mid-year and you pay for the whole months left, including this month: £100 × months left ÷ 12, rounded to the nearest pound. In October 2026 that is £25, for 3 months left in 2026.

Access runs to 31 December 2026. It then renews automatically on 1 January 2027 for £100 for the full year, and on each 1 January after that, until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal. A payment is not refunded except where the law requires it.

How do I get my password after paying?

After payment, the membership password is shown on screen, and the same note is in your Stripe receipt email. Use it at members.1200m.club. It works on another device too.

What happens to my email?

We store the email only to send the Monday recap. Ask to be removed by replying to that email.
